This week Year 5 have really enjoyed writing free verse poems about volcanic eruptions. They have been inspired by videos of eruptions and also the eruption they created themselves in class last week! Topic lessons have explored the structure of the Earth and how this links to different natural disasters. In art, the children have explored drawing tsunami waves with different colours and have produced some spectacular sketches. The children have been really enjoying our new class novel – The Firework Maker’s Daughter – and are very keen to see how the story unfolds.
