Reception Admissions
Each September, we welcome 90 children into our Reception class. Children usually begin full-time in the school year in which they turn five, joining a single annual intake. Reception places are allocated by Bradford Local Authority, and all applications must be made through their admissions process. While many children move form our Nursery into Reception, it is important to be aware that attending our Nursery does not guarantee a place in our Reception class, all families must submit a separate application through the Local Authority. If your child is not offered a place, you have the right to appeal. We are happy to help guide families towards the relevant information and support.
How to Apply
All Reception applications are managed by Bradford Local Authority, not our school. To apply, you will need to:
- Visit the Bradford Local Authority admissions website
- Complete the online application form
- List Beckfoot Heaton Primary School as one of your preferences
- Submit your application before the deadline
Once applications have been processed, the Local Authority will contact you directly with the outcome. If you need any support while completing your application, please contact the school office. We are always happy to guide you through the process.
Nursery Admissions
We offer 139 Nursery places each September and maintain a waiting list throughout the year. Children can attend for 15 hours per week, with sessions offered in a range of flexible patterns, including mornings, afternoons or a blend of full days. For eligible families, 30 hours funded childcare is also available.
Our Nursery provides a caring and well-structured introduction to school life, helping children develop confidence, independence and early learning skills.

Important: A nursery place at Beckfoot Heaton does not guarantee a Reception place. Reception applications must be made separately via Bradford Local Authority.
