This week in Reception, we have continued caring for our plants and preparing our growing box for the judges from the Great Yorkshire Show, who will be visiting in a few weeks. The children have carefully transferred the plants they have been growing in the classroom into the growing box and have taken responsibility for watering them every day.
In Literacy, we drew story maps and learned the oral retell for our shorter version of Jack and the Beanstalk. We also drew the giant and wrote some fantastic sentences to describe him.
In Maths, we explored capacity, discussing whether containers were full, empty, or half full. The children then applied these skills through practical activities in the sand tray and water tray outdoors.
In our outdoor provision, we opened our Mud Kitchen Café. The children have been very excited to create and serve all the delicious foods on the menu, using their imagination and teamwork skills.
Well done to all the children for another wonderful week of learning! 🌱
