In Year 4 this week, the children have planned and written their invent story about a Victorian child who goes to work in Salts Mill in Saltaire. The children used the knowledge they gathered from their visit to Saltaire to write a descriptive paragraph about their character’s walk from their house to the mill and what they would have experienced on the way. They used the information learned in topic lessons and the suspense toolkit from previous literacy lessons to create a dramatic scene of life inside the mill, leading up to a dangerous situation which their character is saved from at the last second. Next week, Year 4 are excited to go on a trip to Lister Park.
