In Reception, we have continued our Under the Sea topic while fully immersing ourselves in our class story, The Rainbow Fish.
In Literacy, we have been innovating the story by changing the characters to different sea creatures. From this, the children have started building their own sentences, ready to write independently next week.
In Creative, we have been exploring colour mixing. The children were so excited to see the “magic” happen as colours changed when two were mixed together — they could hardly believe their eyes!
We have also been developing our fine motor skills, focusing on using a pincer grip to carefully place matchsticks and create 2D shapes. It was tricky at first, but the children learned that with patience and perseverance, they could successfully make the shapes.
Alongside this, we have been working really hard in phonics. It would be fantastic if families could continue to read phonics books with their child every day at home, as this makes a huge difference to their confidence and progress.
