What a fantastic week we have had in Reception! We have been fully immersed in our exciting new topic, ‘Under the Sea’, and the children have shown great enthusiasm while exploring the theme through our provision.
In the small world area, the children have been naming and describing a variety of sea creatures, developing their vocabulary and imaginative play. During literacy, we have been learning about rhyming words, which has supported the children in beginning to write their own rhyming sea creature poems.
In the playdough area, the children carefully moulded the dough to create an octopus, remembering that it has eight legs, and showing excellent fine motor control. In maths, we have been exploring addition and subtraction, using cubes and part–part–whole models to help us represent and understand number relationships.
We are so proud of the children’s curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm this week!
