Root Vegetables, Creativity, and Kind Hearts: Our Week in Reception

We have had a fantastic and exciting week in Reception as we immersed ourselves in our new topic, Growth. This week, our focus has been learning all about root vegetables. The children have shown great curiosity and enthusiasm, and we are very excited to begin growing our own vegetables over the coming weeks!

In Literacy, we have been learning the poem ‘Vegetable Soup’ and have impressed everyone by using some wonderful adjectives to innovate and improve our own versions of the poem. In Maths, we have been focusing on doubles and halves, working hard to deepen our understanding through practical activities and games.

In Creative, the children carefully used thin paintbrushes to paint detailed pictures of root vegetables. We also made salt dough in our playdough area and moulded it into different root vegetables. We are looking forward to painting our creations next week!

Alongside our learning, we have been thinking about what makes a great friend and how we can show kindness to others. To celebrate the kindness in our class, we drew around our hands and wrote one way we show kindness. These are now proudly displayed around our class tree for everyone to admire.

What a wonderful week of learning, creativity and kindness! 🌱
