Stepping Back in Time: Year 3’s Stone Age Adventure

This week Year 3 have started their Stone Age topic with a fantastic session in our woodland. The children experienced life as a hunter-gatherer-collecting vegetables, nuts and plants to eat. They were also challenged to build a shelter using things they had gathered in the woodland – they were very impressive! Finally, the children had a go at cave painting, using only sticks as their painting tool. These paintings gave clues about the lives of Stone Age people. In Literacy, we have been exploring rhyming poems and have written several short poems about different Stone Age animals. It was really fun trying to find rhymes that worked well to describe the different creatures.
