Magnifying Magic and Shape Rockets – Reception Learns through Play

What a wonderful week we’ve had in Reception – both in school and at home! 🍁 The children were given the challenge of going on an autumn walk with their families to collect some special autumn treasures. We’ve been so excited each morning to see what they’ve found—conkers, colourful leaves, pinecones, and even a few shiny acorns! Back in class, the children have loved using magnifying glasses to take a closer look at their treasures and share their discoveries with friends.

In maths, we’ve been learning all about matching pairs. If you pop into our classroom, you’ll see our washing line full of odd socks waiting to be paired up – it’s been such a fun way to practise our sorting skills! 🧦 Over in our creative area, we’ve been naming 2D shapes and using them to design and build our very own rockets. 🚀 The children have shown such imagination and excitement – it’s been a joy to see their ideas blast off!
