Teamwork, Watercolours & Wellbeing: A Creative Week in Year 4

In Year 4 this week, the children have started learning different strategies to add and subtract numbers. They have worked with a partner to practically show these strategies on a number line using base ten. It was great to see the teamwork and hear the use of mathematical language as they discussed the tasks. In addition, the children have been excited to experiment with watercolour pencils in art, trying out different shading techniques and practicing adding water with a paint brush to create a more blended effect. This will then be put into practice next week when they start to sketch and paint their final piece – a Victorian house. Lime Class also had the chance to use the watercolour pencils to create some posters about Belonging in preparation for Children’s Mental Health Week. Mrs Mawson was very impressed with them.
