Steam Trains and Saltaire Stories: Year 4’s Journey Through History and Poetry

Year 4 have had an amazing week. Pupils thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Saltaire and the journey on the steam train. They loved how the steam train experience differed from the electric steam train thus helping them to plan their poems in literacy. Pupils benefitted from the walk around Saltaire, studying the architecture of the mill and learning about why Sir Titus Salt built the mill in Saltaire and what he provided for his workers.  At school, in topic, Year 4 recalled their learning and plotted key historical places on the map, jotting down some information about them.  Next week they are looking forward to learning about the artist Claire Caulfield and Victorian architecture.
