We were absolutely thrilled to welcome the Young BAFTA Roadshow with Place2Be to Beckfoot Heaton this week to march the launch of their 2025 tour. As the very first stop on this exciting national programme, our school was thrilled with inspiration and creativity as pupils took part in this truly memorable day.
The aim of the roadshow is to spark imagination, build confidence, and introduce children to the wide range of careers available in the screen industries, and it certainly delivered! Our pupils were buzzing with excitement as they met TV presenter and comedian Ben Shires, and actress Kia Pegg, both familiar faces from CBBC. Ben and Kia brought the world of television to life through engaging presentations, fun workshops and meaningful conversations.
This incredible initiative is all about boosting aspirations, supporting wellbeing, and showing young people that their creativity can lead to exciting futures and great lives.
Our pupils had the opportunity to explore their ideas and talents in hands-on activities, ask questions, and even hold a real BAFTA trophy! From discussing what it’s like to work in TV to exploring the behind the scenes magic of TV, the day was packed with truly unforgettable moments.

How amazing to have welcomed the Place2Be and BAFTA teams to Beckfoot Heaton today. The day was truly remarkable and expertly designed to support children’s belief in themselves as unique individuals, while inspiring them about opportunities in the world of film, television and game design. Being able to hold a BAFTA, meet some famous faces from CBBC, get creative with friends, win prizes, and be told how great they are, will certainly stay with our children for a very long time!
We were honoured to be chosen as the launch school for this year’s Roadshow. The visit is a reflection of our deep commitment to broadening horizons, raising aspirations, and providing our pupils with real-world experiences that inspire them to dream big and live a great life.
