At Beckfoot Heaton we use talk in every lesson and in every subject, teaching children how to be confident communicators and how to use their voice. Through Talk Partners our pupils are taught how to give feedback, how to lead and contribute to discussion and how to articulate their thoughts. Debate is found within our curriculum and used as a platform for pupils to practise expressing themselves and forming an opinion. We promote presentation and performance, giving pupils opportunities across school. Our pupils are confident communicators.	Learning and growing are two our of Heaton core values. At Beckfoot Heaton our curriculum teaches a balance of fact and skill, we empower pupils to know more and have the skills to learn. Through our topic based, engaging curriculum, we teach pupils to persevere, to be motivated by learning and strive to find out more. Pupils take pride in what they know and how they can show this.	Community is one of our Heaton core values. Beckfoot Heaton pupils contribute to their community, both the school community and that of our local area. Heaton pupils are proud of their school and community; we have local visits throughout our curriculum and we promote diversity and tolerance in everything we do.	Our pupils are motivated to learn and know that this will be positive for their future. Our moto is: Great person + great learner = great life Pupils learn about career pathways and how subjects are linked and contribute to future careers. We teach our pupils core values of integrity, community, caring, growth, inspiration, learning, happiness, sharing, teamwork and aspiration.
